V:TES Nights of Reckoning Pre-Release Event Guidelines

Celebrating the latest expansion of Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, now in it’s 12th year of play, White Wolf Publishing and the Princes of the Elder Kindred Network are promoting a weekend long series of tournaments and special events globally – all to help players get familiar with the new cards coming available in the Nights of Reckoning Expansion set. Below is the basic information needed to plan your own tourney.

What is in Nights of Reckoning?:
• A booster-only set of 60 cards, themed on the mortal monster-hunters, drawing from the World of Darkness® classic and X-Box smash-hit, Hunter: The Reckoning™.
• Includes 20 Hunter crypt cards, which can be used to build all-mortal decks or alongside vampires in standard decks.
• Introduces 7 new “Disciplines” (the Virtues and Edges of the Hunters)
• No reprinted cards in this mini-expansion


TIME:
On April 8th & 9th, Princes will have the opportunity to run a Nights of Reckoning Pre-release tournament. Princes begin by securing a venue and registering the event on the calendar: http://www.white-wolf.com/events/.

TOURNAMENT/EVENT SUGGESTIONS:
Organizers have the option of choosing the format that best suits their playgroup. Some suggestions are:

The 40/40 rule:

Format:

Since Nights of Reckoning is not a standalone set, the format will require players to bring their own "base" decks to add to the Nights of Reckoning cards they receive at the event. These base decks should have 40 library and 8 vampire cards (average capacity 5 or more). So 40 library cards and 40 capacity of vampires: the 40/40 rule.

Each attendee purchases from the sponsoring retailer 4 packs of Nights of Reckoning. These are then booster drafted at the tables.

Players must use at least 20 library and 4 crypt cards from their drafted Nights of Reckoning cards. (Obviously you can use more if you want; you can even replace some of your 40/40 premade deck with additional Nights of Reckoning cards if you like. You must have at least 60 cards in your library and 12 cards in your crypt when you're done.)

Participants are encouraged to bring multiple base decks and then choose one after drafting their Nights of Reckoning cards.

If you feel another format fits your playgroup more appropriately, feel free to do as you like. This is not a sanctioned format so be creative! Try and take down Nergal in the final, if you want!


AFTER THE EVENT:
Let us know how things went. The WW Website will be putting up a news story on the Pre-release events. We want Pictures, Tell us how many people showed up. Who won? What was the most creative combination? We'll draw a name from the post-event reports submitted and send one person a display of Nights of Reckoning. Just to say thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Wer ein pre-release event machen möchte melde sich bitte bei Nusser oder mir damit das Material auch rechtzeitig da ist

Ich hatte mich (wie schon andernorts geschrieben) aus dem VTES-Geschäft zurückgezogen. Nun leite ich eine Rollenspielrunde, bei dem die SC FBI Agenten in der WoD sind. Dafür verwende ich eine Menge Zeug, das aus Hunter:TR stammt. Daher verfolge ich mit Interesse die Ereignisse um das neue Set. Frage dazu: Das ganze Set wird aus 60 Karten bestehen. Sind das 60 Karten inkl. der 20 Crypt-Hunter (also 40 Lib und 20 Cryp)? Oder sind es 60+20 ? Vielleicht kann mir ja diese Edition die Begeisterung für VTES zurückgeben.

Hat jemand eine gute Idee? Ich bin ja für diesen Mixed Draft. Nur rein "Nights of Reckoning" zu verwenden sehe ich als fraglich an?

Aus dem angegebenen Format ist leider sehr wenig über die eigentliche Erweiterung zu erkennen. Für mich wäre zum Beispiel sehr wichtig, welche Gruppennummer die Hunter wohl haben werden. Zumindest für das Event scheint man das dann ja ignorieren zu sollen.

Wie bei allen Drafts (und hier haben wir ja sogar noch ein Unsanctioned Format) gilt die Grouping Regel nicht (es sei denn, der Ausrichter will es so...)

nun für mich stellt sich die erste Frage: welches Format sich wirklich für solch einen Event eignet.

Ich persönlich halte ja nicht so viel vom 40/40 Format. Da jeder mit einem kleinen constructed Deck kommt, gibt es eine starke Tendenz genau dieses Deck nicht zu verwässern. Man spielt also nicht NoR, sondern sein constructed Deck.

Möglich wäre ein klassischer Draft. D.h. man nimmt noch CE oder SW Booster dazu. Nachteil: zur Zeit schwer zu bekommen und teuer.

Ich werde in Frankfurt wahrscheinlich ein System machen, dass jeder Spieler 40 Camarilla taugliche Karten (=commons) mitbringt und die dann mit den NoR Karten gedraftet werden. Vorteil: billig und überraschend. (außerdem habe ich genügend commons rumfliegen, um für die Spieler, die keinen Stapel zusammenkriegen, das zu übernehmen.)

Man könnte ja auch eine gewisse Anzahl an Karten vorgeben die in das mitgebrachte Deck aufgenommen werden müssen z.B. mind. 10 oder so, aber dummerweise ist nich klar wie gut sich die neuen Karten mit alten Deckkonzepten vereinbaren lassen bzw. brauchbar sind und am ende nimmt einer nur 10 X-beliebige NoR Karten rein die er eh bloss discarded

Vielleicht is ja bei preview schon eine tendenz zu erkennen

Ich finde die Idee von Decebalus echt gut, so könnte man das auch bei uns machen, was meinst du Konrad? UNd ich hätte jetzt auch genug Karten, um die für Alex G. und Co. mitzubringen....
